What an incredible experience

I will write more in the next couple of days, but I wanted to let you know that I, after 3 other attempts, have complete the Trans Iowa bicycle race! Plus, I won this for being the last person to make the last check point at mile 217 and to still finish (in other words, I got last place!):

I am overwhelmed with joy for you. I'd offer to build you a custom bike in congratulations, but looks like you got a new ride anyway. Have a beer for me...and of course I will have one for you cheers man!

I WILL come ride next year (sort of a sad feeling down in the belly this listening to the audio, kinda like an elementary school breakup), if you plan to...perhaps it's still early for that decision. Probably don't want to see a bike for a while.

Job well done. Great job on getting your self in shape for such a ride. Long night, but you stuck to it.

Oh, and no you didn't get last place. Out of over 100 that signed up, only 52 toed the line and 14 finished. 14th out of 100 is pretty damn good.

Paul, I am so happy that you were able to finish TI this year. The conditions were perfect, you stuck to your pre-race plan, and you did it. Great job. Look forward to riding with you in Kansas.

Super nice work Paul, and congrats on winning the bike, that's really cool. I saw one of those at Cycle Works in Lincoln the other weekend.

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the kind words. I still can not believe that we had such a perfect day. What truly is shocking to me is that I swore if I finished everyone would finish, yet, only 14 out of the 52 finished on what I would call a perfect weekend of weather.

Luck does happen!
