Carney-

I have "considered" doing the Montana section in June. A friend of mine, Jon Billman (past ISU prof) finished it up last year with 25 minutes to spare before the deadline. Amazing!
He has told me that he thought Montana was one of the best parts of the course.

Realistically, I don't think my wife will ever let me do that race, but maybe riding a state or two a year might be feasible (and probably a lot more doable!).

If I was in your shoes Andrew I would go do things like that now. When you get to be my age (37) with a family and bills to pay then it gets a whole lot harder (or impossible).

I look forward to meeting you one of these days! %^)

Ditto on the doing it. I've ridden most of the Montana section before it was the Montana Section when Adventure cycling was still bikecential. Lived in Missoula for the better part of the 90's. Ive also ridden parts around Atlantic City/South Pass WY and parts north of Steamboat Springs, CO. If you use google earth, you can download the gps routes from adventure cycling and drag 'n drop the gpx files into the "my places" spot on the menu bar. They're easier to read if you expand the folder and turn of the waypoints and rurn on the track.
